"New" - NC Rose, 2018 Available: In Stock $30.00
Remember your first crush in elementary school? Imagine if they were sitting on the swingset at school and opened a brand new bag of gummy bears and held them in front of your nose. The subtle sweetness of the red and white gummies mixed with the freshness of the blooming flowers behind the tetherball poles takes over your senses. You begin to blush, which funnily enough, is the color of this beautiful wine. Subtle rhubarb and dried strawberry blanket your palate and is as comforting as the reliable and plush Stussy sweater you wear every morning to class. The acidity is as nervous as you are and spirals around creating a mouthwatering finish. Ah yes, Spring is here.

NC BDX Blanc, 2018 Available: In Stock $30.00
BDX Blanc is produced as a counterpoint to our 100% Sauvignon Blanc program. We are sourcing Semillon from the Ghielmetti Vineyard and fermenting the wine in barrels and undergo partial malo-lactic conversion giving the base of the wine a rich, creamy texture. A portion of lean, clean, stainless steel fermented sauvignon blanc is blended in to drive nuance and higher tuned acidity to give the wine the drive and really make the more tropical tones in the Semillon pop aromatically and on the palate.
The 2018 is a great follow up to our inaugural release last year. The 2017 earned 90 points from Wine Enthusiast, Best in Class from the San Francisco Wine Competition and we expect the 2018 to follow suit. Soft on the palate, the wines moves swiftly leaving behind floral tones, ripe peach, Asian pear and citrusy undertones.

NC Cab Franc, 2014 Available: In Stock $65.00
Casa de Vinas has become a staple for Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah in the NC portfolio. In 2011, we planted Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Merlot and Petit Verdot as well as Carmenere to extend our sourcing of Bordeaux varieties. Quite frankly, the fruit from Casa is prized because of the care and attention to detail from Julio Covarrubias. His hand is tried and true when it comes to farming wine in the Livermore Valley. The 2014 Cabernet Franc is our second offering from these plantings. The wine is concentrated with red berry fruit leading the way as herbal driven undertones follow. Moderate acidity keeps tension in this beautiful single variety farmed and produced with love.

NC Chard Unoaked, 2018 Available: In Stock $30.00
This is not your buttered popcorn and oak-driven chardonnay, not that there’s anything wrong with that! This interpretation of the classic varietal is somewhere between “oaky buttery” California style and “rocky chalky” Chablis style. It’s definitely like sticking your nose in the random bowl of fruit your parents kept on the counter by the roll of paper towels. Fresh smelling green apple, unwashed pear, and that half cut lemon that’s kinda dried out that you think you’ll use but never will. Don’t get me wrong, there is a ripeness on the nose that suggests you are getting into a full-bodied adventure it’s just not an aroma of oak or butter (not that there's anything wrong with that!). The palate is a generous offering of golden apple, tart pineapple, and a mouth filling texture that is sought after in chardonnay. The finish has a sort of tart “smarties” kinda quality that is very pleasing. We chose to showcase the quality of fruit in its purest form for this wine rather than imparting secondary flavors from an oak program. Not that there's anything wrong with that, people’s personal chardonnay preferences are are nobody’s business but their own!

NC Chardonnay 2017 Available: In Stock $28.00
2017 marked a big year for Chardonnay at Nottingham Cellars. We have taken our sourcing from a mix of Montery and Livermore Valley, to 100% Livermore. Now sourcing from three distinct vineyards within the valley, producing three very distinct wines, each one showcasing the immense caliber and versatility of our growing region. This 2017 Appellation Series Chardonnay is sourced from the Karl Wente vineyard, our Livermore Valley answer from the typical Riva Ranch in Monterey. Though the sourcing of the wine has changed the characteristics that you have come to know and love in our Appellation Series Chardonnay have not. A hint of flint and char on the nose opens to a bouquet of apricots, yellow apples, honey as the wine breathes and a palate that follows suit. Rich, mouthwatering and inviting with just the right amount of acid to drive the wine forward towards a long lingering finish that is sure to please even the pickiest of chardonnay drinkers.

NC LV Merlot 2014 Available: In Stock $32.00
Fragrant and bold, our 2014 Merlot opens with tart, fresh red raspberries and blueberries. A bit of black cherry follows, layered on this varieties’ characteristically rich texture. Notes of ripe cranberry and pomegranate puree expand on palate with rosemary/basil driven undertones that offer a more floral, herbaceous character. Our Merlot combines acidic drive and tannic grip on the palate yet follows through smooth with a lush lingering finish. Enjoy now, or for years to come.

NC LV Sauv Blanc, 2017 Available: In Stock $24.00
The 2017 Sauvignon Blanc has once again restored our love for this varietal, but our now third vintage comes with a slight change from previous years! This year we have sourced from Ghielmetti like years past, but have added Donovan vineyards as well. The bright tropical, fruit forward characteristics we have come to expect from Ghielmetti are complimented and balanced perfectly by the citrus and grassy tones of Donovan. This wine is as bright and refreshing as ever. Bursting with ripe lemon, green apple, underripe white peach, passion fruit and tart pineapple followed by a vibrant and driven palate with a hint of minerality on the finish. A fan favorite every year, sauvignon blanc has quickly become a staple in our tasting room and has definitely found a permanent home amongst our ranks. Enjoy paired with chicken, oysters, scallops, your favorite summer meal or simply chilled on its own!

Fragrant and bold, our 2014 Merlot opens with savory raspberry, plum, and mint mocha aromas. A bit of black cherry follows, layered on this varieties’ characteristically rich texture. There’s a certain juiciness here; red fruits expand on the oak driven long finish. While vanilla notes are apparent, they blend in nicely with more damsel, briar and berry flavor. Our Merlot combines a weighty feel with a voluptuous touch, a combination that is both strong and supple. Drink now through 2020.

NC Petit Verdot GHI, 2015 Available: In Stock $36.00
One of the most eastern located vineyards in Livermore, this 64 acre site is planted with all five of the noble Bordeaux varieties. The elevations of the vineyard vary from 200 feet near the Valley floor to nearly 800 feet above sea level near the southside of the region where views of the Valley from the peak are absolutely breathtaking. Year after year, Ghielmetti Vineyard Petit Verdot always impresses. This 2015 vintage showcases more feminine, red fruit forward notes than years past. An herbacious and earthy nose with a medley of wild raspberries and blueberries and underripe strawberries. The palate follows suit with bright and inviting red fruit flavors, a rustic tannic structure and high tuned acid driven undertones. 2015 also marks the first year we have bottled two vineyard designated Petit Verdot's, try them both, pick a favorite, or get them both if you can’t decide... we don’t blame you!!

NC Petit Verdot Smith, 2015 Available: In Stock $50.00
Since first sourcing from Smith Ranch this vineyard has quickly become a staple here at Nottingham Cellars and for the first time in 2015 we had the opportunity to bottle a single varietal Petite Verdot from Smith as well. The rolling hills provide beautiful benches in the land with an array of different exposures to the sun as well as elevation and soil changes. An exquisite site that shows itself in the wine. An expressive wine from the first pour. Red and black fruit, dark chocolate and caramel aromatics are met by inviting green aromatics from the vines and notes of blueberry and boysenberry as the wine opens. Smooth and rich across the palate with soft flavors of red and black fruit and lush earthy tones carry themselves elegantly over the palate and are complimented by high tuned acidity and subtle rounded tannins leaving a long lingering finish you won’t want to end.

NC Petit Verdot, 2013 Available: In Stock $50.00
For the first time in 2012, we decided to bring in more Petit Verdot than needed for our Bordeaux blends and produced this single varietal offering. We were extremely happy with the results and decided to continue the trend in 2013 as well! On the nose, a medley of wild blackberries, raspberries and blueberries dipped in chocolate and rolled in ground coffee shavings. The palate follows suit with rich black fruit dominating. The wine is rich and mouth filling with a rustic tannic structure and high tuned acid driven red fruit undertones. The tannin and acid suggest the wine will lay down for some time.

NC Petit Verdot, 2014 Available: In Stock $50.00
Slightly more feminine and higher tuned than years past, this 2014 Ghielmetti Petit Verdot is lush, inviting and begs for both hors d’oeuvre and the main course. Aromatics of candied red fruit, blueberry pie and mixed berry preserve play wonderfully with deeper, more rustic tones of dark chocolate covered cherries, gravel and earth that carry onto the palate. Light on entry this wine quickly envelops you with rich red and black fruit, strong mid-palate density and acid driven red fruit undertones we have come to expect from this wine and vineyard. Mouthwatering tannins and a soft sustained finish round out the wine and ensure you will always be wanting more. Fantastic for years to come or on your dinner table tonight, this wine makes the perfect accompaniment to any evening. Whether you decide to lay this wine down or not is up to you, but our recommendation... get two so you don’t have to decide.

The Hill is our ode to this incredible site, its name inspired by the vast topography that makes Sachau so unique. Primarily Cabernet Franc with Cabernet Sauvignon lending a hand in developing density and complexity, while Petit Verdot brings grip, blue fruited tones and mid-palate richness. Aromatically the wine exhibits classic red fruit and herbaceous undertones with darker fruits waiting to be revealed. On entry, red fruit leads the way, framed with medium acidity and soft tannins throughout. Darker fruit fills in the mid-palate as the wine travels. Oak plays a nice roll framing the fruit as the wine finishes.

VDCS Casa De Vinas Cabernet, 2016 Available: In Stock $60.00
If James Bond, El Mariachi, and Tony Soprano all walked into a bar, they still wouldn't have a chance against Julio Covarrubias. I'm in no way referencing brute force, rather, Julio's ability to harness barbarity, ruggedness, and elegance in a glass are the unobtainable and conflicting attributes the others will never know. The scent of crushed peppercorns scattered on cherry compote jumps out of the glass to lure you in. Once you're caught, an intoxicating bouquet of cured tobacco leaf, cedar, and hot earth drag you down further. Now you're palate is caught in an undertow of blackberries and red currant with no end in sight, and just when you thought you'd drown in bliss a graceful hand lifts you up onto a boat named "tannin" and dries you off in the gentlest way. It's like Julio is there for you in every glass, and just like the legend himself, his wine is seamlessly wrapped up with a bow of savoir faire. It seems to tell its story for you. Pour this gorgeous wine into your glass and just let it take you away...

VDCS Sachau Cabernet, 2015 Available: In Stock $60.00
Since first producing merlot from Sachau Vineyard in 2014, we knew the site was special. We immediately upped our ante on merlot the next year, sourcing cab franc and cab sauv as well. The cab franc was a welcomed addition, the merlot continued to impress, but the cab sauv blew us all away. Situated behind Murrieta’s Well Winery, off Mines Rd, Sachau vineyards is hilly, steep and ranges from low sloping ravines to high elevated hilltops with various soils and varietal clones throughout. This 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is dark, inviting and complex. Ripe red raspberries, homemade boysenberry pie and chocolate covered blueberries burst out the glass complimented by deeper notes of plum, black cherries, and graphite with green and herbaceous undertones. Smooth and rich across the palate, developing in the glass as it breathes. A perfect wine to compliment any meal now, or wait as it ages beautifully for years to come.

VDCS Smith Ranch Cabernet, 2015 Available: In Stock $60.00
The Smith Ranch vineyard has become a tried and true platform for us to produce Cabernet Sauvignon. Situated on rolling benches in the heart of the region, Smith is tucked up against some hillsides that trap warmer air in during the day and cooling air at night. These diurnal swings are among the most influential in our region giving this site the tools to grow intense, fruit driven wines with the acidity and tannic back bone to lay down. The 2015 is firing on all cylinders giving the Cab lover what they seek. Beautiful red fruit aromatics are complimented by a dark, rich, driven palate we have come to love of this exquisite site. Built to age, the 2015 is a little shy, but after a 1 hour decant opens up into a gorgeous, redder fruited rendition indicative of this epic vintage. Begging for a meaty meal, or with your favorite chocolate dessert this with is the perfect pair for any occasion.

When you drink this wine – you become one of those people – that makes this world a better place. – Julio Casa de Vinas Petite Sirah – there is seriously nothing quite like it out there. Every single vintage this Petite Sirah is a home run for us. Very predictable, but when you reach for a bottle of Petite Sirah, this is what you should get. Black and blue fruit lead the way with Casa’s classic chocolatey undertones, gritty tannic structure and classic balanced acidity to give this rich, meaty wine life. The wine is a giver, just like the man that tends the vineyard, Mr. Julio Covarrubias.

VU Brunswick PS, 2016 Available: In Stock $36.00
The 2016 vintage of Brunswick Petite Sirah brings me back to a time when everyone lived life in the moment, ambition outweighed fear, and important life decisions were made at 2am over greasy burgers and fries with your closest group of friends. Yea, the college years. The nose reminds me of the panicked mornings when you’d be sprinting out the door balancing an unfrosted blueberry Pop Tart on top of your hot mug of Earl Grey tea hoping to sneak into the class you’re already late for. Subtle aromas of vanilla curl your eyebrows from the scented lotion your lab partner slathers on when she was clearly told not to, but no one cares because it smells delightful. The palate offers the same intensity as you did the night before a final exam with a triple berry Fig Newton between your teeth and laptop balancing in one hand with your other hand buried in a box of Raisinets. Looking for that sugar rush to push you through this cram session. The finish, however, is pleasantly dry. The rambunctious tannin firmly grip your tongue with a slightly savory, almost black pepper beef jerky quality. FYI, the tannin in this wine is no joke, they take over your palate the same way blasting Chumbawamba on your discman takes over your ears. You’ll get knocked down, but you’ll get up again...it’s never gonna keep you down. The moment you think it’s over, a second wave of flavors roll through like cascading blueberries and coffee beans picking up velocity down a hill of dark chocolate. It’s kinda like extra credit, you think all the points are accounted for but there is a bonus at the end. Who doesn’t like that?

VU Carignan, 2016 Available: In Stock $30.00
The newest wine to adorn the map and stamp of our Passport Series label. 2016 was the first time we had ever sourced Carignan, let alone make it on its own, but this wine was so unique it deserved to stand alone. Carignan thrives in the sandy soils of Contra Costa County and the fruit from Trembath Vineyard is no exception. These 130+ year old vines are head trained and own rooted, and have been dry farmed for over a century. The resulting wine showcases the classic chalky white pepper, earth, and bright red fruit traditional of this varietal. Candied cranberry, raspberry, soft tannic structure makes this wine approachable in its youth, hence the screw top to lock in these ripe layers of flavors from this old vineyard. Allow the wine time to breath upon opening and witness the changes that take place in the glass. Enjoy at your next BBQ or simply amongst friends.

VU HP Mourvedre, 2014 Available: In Stock $42.00
Brimming with blackberry, gamey, and dried herb aromatics, "H.P." here could stand for "happyplace" for Mourvedre-lovers. Vanillin, cured meat plus heavy toast notes beautifully frame this purple-colored wine's gravelly, tea tannic midpalate. Lots of oak here, beautifully balancing characteristic bramble and earth. Fresh acidity brackets its lengthy fruit-driven finish. An authentically rugged, perfumed bantamweight bruiser, drink now through 2020.

VU HP Mourvedre, 2015 Available: In Stock $42.00
A better man than me once told me that “Mourvedre likes its face in the sun and its feet in the water”. Our Mourvedre is grown on the famous Raboli Vineyard, right in the heart of the Valley floor at a low point where rain water naturally accumulates. Additionally there is almost nothing blocking direct sun all day long through-out the growing season. It is because of these conditions that we are able to craft a wine with Mourvedre’s most signature characteristics on full display. Aromatics of cooked raspberry and leather-y funk lead the way with plum, red licorice, and chocolate covered cherries flooding the pallet. A staff favorite, get ready to embrace the funk that is Raboli Mourvedre.

VU Muscat 2016, PP Available: Sold Out $24.00
The wonderful thing about muscat is that it’s one of the only wines that smell like grapes! Scents of candied apricot, white flower and crushed herbs transport you to the vineyard, and to our cellar during crush. Just off-dry, the slight sweetness of this wine helps accentuates the fruit yet still has enough acidity to remain balanced and vibrant throughout the palate. Light bodied and lively, with crisp citrus, orange peel, and grapefruit on the finish. To label simply as a summer-time sipper, would be a drastic understatement to this versatile wine, perfect all year round!

VU Norm Grenache, 2016 Available: In Stock $42.00
The Marina Ranch is located on the south side of the Livermore Valley floor tucked up against the rolling hillsides just north of DelValle. It is here, on a south-west facing hillside composed of various gravelly and clay driven soils that we grow our Grenache. The vineyard was planted in the early go's with cuttings from Chateau Beaucastel in the heart of Chateneuf du Pape via Tablas Creek of Paso Robles; both iconic producers owned by the Perrin Family. Needless to say this Grenache meets all that is to be desired of the variety, vibrant red fruit, brooding black fruit undertones with rich mouth filling density and age worthy tannic structure. One of the first wines to don the Vasco Urbano label, this wine has quickly become a favorite amongst our customers and staff alike. Perfect for year round enjoyment, this wine is sure to never disappoint.
