Enabling weather forecasting

The weather forecasting system can check the forecast weather conditions in your shipping destinations, and alert you when temperatures are expected to be outside the safe range for shipping wine or other perishable items.

To enable temperature reporting:

  1. In the Merchant list, open the record for your company in the Merchant – Data Entry dialog.

  2. On the Shipping tab, check Enable Weather Forecasting.

Setting weather forecasting preferences

You can enable and disable the weather forecasting feature for each state: see Shipping Rules.

Manager can perform this check automatically before a club shipment. If you enable this feature, when temperatures at a shipping destination are expected to be outside the acceptable range, the system will issue a warning and prevent a shipping label from being printed, so that you can hold a shipment to that location until conditions improve, or change the shipping method. Once youʼve created a shipping transaction and charged the customerʼs credit card, the seven-day weather forecast will be updated each morning until the label is printed.

To enable automatic temperature checking:

  1. In the Merchant list, open the record for your company in the Merchant – Data Entry dialog.

  2. On the Shipping tab, check Check Weather Conditions before Creating Shipping Labels.

  3. Set your acceptable temperature range in the Low Temperature Point and High Temperature Point fields (temperatures are in degrees Fahrenheit).

  4. Click Save.
